Latest Updates from Our Project:

Over 100 backers & the Presto!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Dec 09, 2021 at 03:12:12 AM

We passed 100 backers today and are very excited! Thank you everybody and thank you for getting the word out and helping us reach this milestone! Let's keep it up, and while talking about so many people...

Presto!

Presto! has a goal of reaching every town and every industry being a pervasive and constant force in the world. They have all but succeeded. With a Presto! tavern in every town so young adventures have somewhere to take gig quests any time.

Need the right tool for the job? Presto! has quick delivery at the low low cost of your local shop being run out of town. Need it now? For just a strangely small amount of money you can have Presto! fire your new hat from their headquarters using a giant cannon right to your location. Just hope they are accurate, and that everything isn't broken on delivery. No refunds.

So walk into your local Presto! tavern and buy a macro brewed ale. The alcohol content is low and the taste is basically non-existent, but at least it is also kind of expensive. But it is the only bar in town (if Presto! has their way) so who are you going to complain to?

On Leylines
over 4 years ago – Sun, Dec 05, 2021 at 07:12:14 PM

Hello, everyone!

We have about 10 days left in the campaign and a little over $1,500 before we're funded! Keep spreading the word so we can bring you a fully-illustrated version of the game!

Today, I want to talk about leylines!

In The Means of Magick, magick radiates across leylines. Think of them like spider webs: manipulating a leyline can vibrate the others connected to it. I'm particularly excited about how Narrators can use leylines to showcase environmental themes in their campaigns.

Casting spells on leylines can produce stronger magick or have other, sometimes dangerous consequences. Players--and their enemies--can use this to their advantage.

Leylines also attract FAI and other creatures, and they can even change the environment. You should expect interesting encounters when traversing a leyline, so be prepared for anything!

And although leylines can be powerful, they can be changed, moved, or even destroyed. Extracting too much magick from an area or stockpiling it elsewhere can corrupt the natural order with disastrous consequences.

In the final version of The Means of Magick, the Narrator's section  will include guidelines for how to use leylines to make the world itself a formidable player in your game.

The Artifacts
over 4 years ago – Mon, Nov 29, 2021 at 04:12:33 PM

Hey everybody!

I wanted to take a moment to do a deep dive on artifacts, as it is our newest backer reward. Artifacts are items of great power that are from moments of great emotional importance. Either from a single person who has a single moment of very heightened emotion or a community all putting forth their willpower in a single united moment.  This forces power into an item that can be tapped into by the right person.

Being worthy

When you happen upon a artifact it will be obvious that it is empowered, but it may not be so easy as to unlock those powers for yourself. An artifact has a will of it's own, an amalgamation of what made it. You will have to use your reputation, deeds, and sparkling personality to gain the trust of an artifact. Every level of an artifact that you unlock will give you a mechanical bonus. From gloves that seem to guide your fingers to the nearest wallet, to a shield that can reflect spells, to a hammer that just has a whole lot of electricity in it. Artifacts are a hallmark of some of histories greatest heroes or most tragic stories.

Making your own

There will be a section for The Narrator to make their own within the book, but a few will have the ability to make a few that will love on as examples for the book. The bonuses they give players, the special things they must do to unlock the artifacts abilities, and finally how they came to be!

Hope everyone is doing well! Very glad to see we hit past the 3000$. Any pushes on social media for the campaign or the playtest would be very appreciated! Thanks everyone!

Thank you + New Rewards!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Nov 25, 2021 at 11:39:22 PM

Thank you all for your support! We're at 57% funded with 79 backers, and we're now in week 2 of the campaign!

Because the "create an archetype" tier was so popular, we've added something similar: create an artifact." In The Means of Magick, communities can pour their collective magick and will into an object. Players get a chance to bond with these rare items or weapons and unlock their full potential by living up to the values of the community that created them. At the "create an artifact" tier, you'll be able to work with Alex to design an artifact to be featured in the book.

We also have a "mini-campaign" tier where Jess will GM a 3-session arc for you and a group of up to 5 other people of your choice.

Again, thank you so much!! We're so excited to bring The Means of Magick to your gaming table!

50% and 69 backers (nice)
over 4 years ago – Sat, Nov 20, 2021 at 12:36:31 PM

The campaign is going well and we are well on our way for 4 days in. Thanks again for all the support! Some campaign updates:

We are now offering a new tier where Jess will run a 3-session mini-campaign for you and up to 5 other players of your choice. Only a few of these are available so if it appeals to you go for it early.

We have also added digital copies of Moonpunk as a $5 add-on for the campaign.  If you don't have it you can grab it for cheap and get it the day this campaign ends.

Otherwise thank you once again! 50% funded (we round 3 dollars here) and 69 backers!
